Committee Descriptions

We love volunteers and here are ways to get involved! Below you will find a list of the PTO committees. Please consider joining a committee (or two or three) and share your talents. It is so appreciated!

BOOK FAIR – This team is responsible for the Fall and Spring Book Fairs for the school.  The team will communicate each event and assure that there is proper communication to parents and children via morning announcements, newsletters and emails.  This team will schedule the appropriate number of volunteers to assist during each week.  They will also help set up book fair, restock books and take down book fair.

BOX TOPS – This team is responsible for planning and coordinating Box Tops for Education incentive program.  The team collects, clips, tallies and mails the labels and box tops.

FENCE-  This committee will decorate the fence during special events to advertise for the PTO.  They will complete the decorating in a timely manner prior to an event (once requested) and take down the decorations following the event. 

FAMILY EVENTS – These committees are responsible for the development of themed family night and day events.  These committees coordinate the scheduling, planning, promoting and implementing all activities including food and volunteers.

WINTER EVENT – This Chair works with company to get merchandise for students to purchase during the holiday season.  The team will set up boutique including decorations, inventory, cash registers and scheduling of classes to visit.  

PARTNERS IN LEARNING – This committee coordinates partnerships with local businesses that will support the needs of Durbin Creek Elementary and in return these businesses are supported by the Durbin community.  The committee will promote businesses, monitor contributions and ensure that proper recognition is given to all business partners.

PICTURES – This committee coordinates with photographer and classrooms to schedule classes for fall and spring photos of all students and staff including a classroom photograph.   

SPIRIT STICKS-  This chair will order, organize and keep up with supplies of Spirit sticks. They will arrange with administration dates to have sales to the students. 

SPIRIT PATROL – The chair will get to give award incentives and prizes to students for wearing DCE shirts on Spirit Days.

TEACHER APPRECIATION – This committee is responsible for planning and implementing ideas and activities that show our appreciation to the teachers and staff during the year.  This committee will also help during teacher appreciation week.

TOOL BOXES – This team works to advertise school supplies for purchase through tool box company website.  The tool box kit is a convenient way to obtain all the supplies your child(ren) need for the beginning of the school year without having to leave home.

WEBSITE- This chair will update the DCEPTO.org website to reflect changes of the PTO as needed. 

WELCOME – This committee will welcome new families to Durbin Creek Elementary and will offer any assistance with settling into their new Durbin community.
